The second editorial meeting of Water & Ecology was successfully held in Toronto

On August 11, 2024 the International Water Association (IWA) World Water Conference and Exhibition (WWCE2024) opened in Toronto, Canada.

On August 12, Professor Jiuhui Qu, Editor-in-Chief of Water & Ecology (W&E), convened the members of the Editorial Board who participated in WWCE2024 to hold the second editorial working meeting of the journal. A total of 13 Editorial Board members and the Editorial Working Group attended the meeting, including Co- Editor-in-Chief Joan Rose, and Assistant- Editor-in-Chief Chengzhi Hu, Assistant- Editor-in-Chief Gang Liu, and Assistant- Editor-in-Chief Tiong Gim Aw.

At the meeting, Assistant Editor-in-Chief Gang Liu introduced the recent work progress of the journal, and the representatives of the meeting had an in-depth discussion on the topics of journal development planning, special issue programme, academic forum plan and key direction of manuscript appointment. The meeting concluded on a positive and collaborative note.

During WWCE2024, Prof Qu was awarded the IWA Honorary Member Award, marking the first time that a Chinese scholar has received this prestigious award. Prof Qu has made remarkable achievements in the field of water quality and water ecological safety, as well as security technology research. He has been recognized internationally for his significant contributions to promoting China's participation in IWA affairs, facilitating the development of IWA in China, and expanding the international influence of China's water industry.

The IWA World Water Congress & Exhibition 2024 (WWCE2024) took place on August 11-15 in Toronto, Canada. The event attracted nearly 10,000 water professionals from all over the world to present the latest technologies in the areas of climate change adaptation and mitigation needs, the development of circular economy and resource recovery, and the wide application of digital technologies, providing a platform for water industry experts, water companies, universities and research institutes, state representatives and NGOs to exchange and discuss the latest insights and practical experiences of the innovative technologies and management methods.
