Exclusive Interview with China Daily | Joan Rose: Water Microbiology Needs China’s Voice

From May 20th to 31st, Water & Ecology (W&E) held a series of inaugural events. Joan Rose, the co-founder and editor-in-chief of the journal, made a trip to China to participate in these events. She visited various cities, including Beijing, Dali in Yunnan province, Xi’an in Shaanxi province, Wuhan in Hubei province, Yixing in Jiangsu province, and Shanghai, as well as universities, scientific research institutions, and companies responsible for water-related affairs. She engaged in profound exchanges with Chinese scholars and experts. Additionally, she attended the inauguration ceremony organized by the IWA China Chapter on Microbial Safety of Water (IWA Ms China).
During her visit to China, Professor Rose sat for an exclusive interview with China Daily. She spoke highly of the cutting-edge research conducted by Chinese scholars in the field of water environment and aquatic ecology, which has reached the international forefront. She hoped to assist relevant institutions and personnel to engage in more in-depth international cooperation and exchanges in the future.
Professor Rose emphasized that the launch of W&E, by providing a high-end academic platform for research in these fields, will promote the publication of more outstanding achievements and create more opportunities for international cooperation.
She further pointed out that IWA Ms China, as the first sub-branch of IWA, which will not only enrich global research in the field of aquatic biological safety but also significantly promote China’s progress in water environmental health.
