Special issue on immersive and intelligent hardware environment and applications
Published 23 September, 2024
As the boundaries of digital interaction expand, the concept of “immersion” has become central to creating more engaging and realistic digital experiences. Immersion refers to the technology and methodologies that make users feel as though they are physically present in a non-physical world.
With advancements in augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR) and mixed reality (MR), the potential for immersive experiences has grown exponentially. These technologies offer applications across various fields, including entertainment, education, healthcare and industrial operations. However, achieving true immersion involves overcoming challenges related to sensory feedback, hardware limitations, and seamless integration of digital and physical environments.
To that end, this special issue aims to explore the latest developments and innovative strategies in creating immersive experiences, with a focus on the convergence of immersive technologies with virtual reality to enhance user engagement and interaction. It will feature studies that examine the latest applications of immersive technologies with virtual reality and address the challenges in achieving true immersion, as well as those that explore innovative solutions for enhancing user experience across various fields.
