Successful Editorial Board Meeting for 'Sports Medicine and Health Science' Marks New Era of Growth and Development

On the evening of October 26th, the 2024 Editorial Board meeting for the journal "Sports Medicine and Health Science" (SMHS) took place at the Eastern Campus of Chengdu Sport University. Over ten editorial board members attended in person from the United States, Canada, Hungary, Spain, and China, while more than forty joined online. Zhao Jiexiu, a researcher from the Chinese Society of Sports Science, and Ye Wei from Ke Ai Publishing were also invited to the meeting. The university's Party Secretary, Shu Weiping, Deputy Party Secretary and President Pan Xiaofei, and Vice Presidents Li Lin and Wang Mingjian were present. The meeting was chaired by J. Larry Durstine, the editor-in-chief of SMHS, from the University of South Carolina.

Pan Xiaofei opened the meeting with a welcoming speech, reflecting on the university's achievements over the past year and highlighting the positive momentum for the journal’s growth. Following this, the editorial office and the publisher presented detailed reports on the journal's progress over the past year to the board members. During the discussion segment, the editorial board members engaged in constructive conversations about the journal's future development, particularly focusing on strategies to attract high-quality submissions. They reached a consensus on the importance of organizing themed issues, enhancing promotion at global conferences and on social media, and emphasizing the journal's unique features and strengths. Honorary Editor-in-Chief Academician Chen Junshi also shared his insights and expectations for the journal's future.

In conclusion, Shu Weiping summarized the meeting on behalf of the university, expressing sincere gratitude for the editorial board's effective work and the university's confidence and commitment to managing the journal successfully. He inspired future development with the quote, "Today is not easy, tomorrow is more difficult, but the day after tomorrow will be wonderful!" This meeting marked the first editorial board gathering since Chengdu Sport University relocated to the Eastern New District, as well as the first meeting following the journal's acquisition of its first impact factor in June 2024, setting a clear direction for its future growth.
