2025 International Workshop on Risk Sharing (IWRS)

Published 13 February, 2025

Save the Date: July 6-7, 2025 | Beijing, China

The study of risk sharing is crucial in addressing global and societal challenges, providing methodologies and applications for distributing risks and responsibilities among diverse stakeholders, including individuals, businesses, governments, and financial institutions. By leveraging various mechanisms for risk sharing, modern societies can safeguard larger populations and assets from various risks. For instance, risk-sharing pools, such as insurance schemes and disaster relief funds, offer financial support to those affected by climate disasters, aiding in their recovery and rebuilding efforts. Effective risk sharing in retirement systems ensures lifetime financial security for both working and retired populations, alleviating the burdens of population aging on corporations and governments. Furthermore, risk sharing can guide the behaviors of individuals, society, and capital towards more sustainable practices. By raising awareness of risks associated with climate change, population aging, and disruptive technologies, and encouraging participation in risk-sharing mechanisms, we can foster more resilient and sustainable development.

The 2025 International Workshop on Risk Sharing (IWRS) serves as a platform for academic exchanges on the latest advancements in risk sharing theory and practices worldwide. History:

The IWRS series was established in 2024 by a group of researchers united by a shared interest in risk sharing. Its inaugural event took place at the Southern University of Science and Technology, where it was launched as the International Symposium on Emerging Risks and Quantitative Management. Over time, the conference evolved and was rebranded as IWRS to reflect its dedicated focus on risk-sharing techniques and practices. Our vision is to cultivate IWRS as an open forum that embraces diverse topics and perspectives, fostering meaningful dialogue and innovation across different areas of practices.
