Bingzheng Chen is the Professor of Finance in the School of Economics and Management at Tsinghua University. He also serves as the Director of China Center of Insurance and Risk Management.
He received his Ph.D. in System Engineering from Tsinghua University in 1995, Master in Economics from Renmin University of China in 1985, and BA in Mathematics from the University of Science and Technology of China in 1982.
Professor Chen’s teaching portfolio includes courses such as Theory and Practice of Insurance, Property and Liability Insurance, Life and Health Insurance, Social Insurance, Enterprise Risk Management, and Data, Model, and Decision. His research expertise lies in Risk Management and Insurance, Enterprise Risk Management, Pension Systems, and Insurance Securitization.
He holds prominent editorial and leadership positions, including Editor of The Journal of Risk Finance and Associate Editor of Insurance: Mathematics and Economics. Additionally, he serves as the Executive Director of The Insurance Society of China, a member of the Committee of Experts of China's Risk Management Standards Committee, the Director of the China Financial Association, an Adjunct Professor at Zhejiang Finance and Economics College, a Member of the Expert Committee of the PECC Financial Market Development Committee, the Director of China's Financial Engineering Research Council, and the Executive Director of the China Hydropower Project Risk Management Research Association.
Professor Chen has an extensive publication record with over 90 economic papers in journals such as Insurance Research, Technical Economics, The Journal of Risk Finance, Insurance: Mathematics and Economics, and China & World Economy. He has also authored nearly 20 translated works, monographs, and textbooks. Furthermore, he has led more than 30 commissioned projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation, the National Philosophy and Social Science Foundation, as well as other ministries, societies, associations, enterprises, and institutions.
