RISC Forum 2024: New Frontiers of Systemic Risk
October 31 – November 1, 2024 | Toronto, Canada
Call for Papers
In an era of rapid technological advancements, interconnected global systems and evolving societal challenges, systemic risks have been in the spotlight as critical issues that demand attention and innovative solutions. These risks, ranging from supply chain disruptions to climate change, mis-modeling of extreme events, artificial intelligence (AI)-driven disinformation and cyber threats, have the potential to cause widespread and cascading impacts across industries and societies. Understanding and managing these complex risks require a collaborative and multidisciplinary approach.
The RISC Forum 2024, organized by the Risk and Insurance Studies Centre, Inc (RISC Foundation) in collaboration with the University of Toronto's Department of Statistical Sciences, aims to provide a platform for leading academic researchers, industry professionals and policymakers to engage in a rigorous exchange of ideas and insights on the emerging frontiers of systemic risk. This year's forum will explore the latest advancements in systemic risk modeling, analysis and management, highlighting both theoretical and practical approaches to navigating the uncertainty and interconnectedness inherent in these risks.
To further support the dissemination and advancement of research in the critical area of systemic risk, the RISC Foundation has joined forces with the journal Risk Sciences. RISC Forum participants presenting papers and posters will have the opportunity to submit their work to Risk Sciences at no cost for possible publication. This collaboration ensures that the insights and innovations discussed at the RISC Forum can reach a wider audience, thereby contributing to the broader discourse on systemic risk.
We invite submissions of theoretical and empirical papers on systemic risks, including but not limited to the following topics:
- Supply chain disruption
- Climate change-related threats
- Mis-modelling of extreme events
- Cyber threats
- AI-led Dis- and Mis-information
All papers should be submitted directly to Risk Sciences via its submission portal by December 31, 2024. Please select [RISC 2024] on submission.
All manuscripts shall go through the same peer-review process and be subject to the same journal standards. Conference organizers shall review all submitted papers for eligibility.
