New Crops is dedicated to serving crop researchers and breeders by publishing novel findings that have gone through rigorous peer-review and have significant impact to the field. The journal covers a very wide range of area, including Crop Science, Plant Science and related cross-disciplines.

Henan University (HENU) is a national "double first-class" university that boasts a rich history dating back to its establishment in 1912. It is renowned for its comprehensive range of academic disciplines, unique professional attributes, and deep-rooted cultural heritage.

The university has steadfastly embraced its guiding motto, "emphasizing virtue, innovation, and excellence", which has given rise to a distinctive school spirit characterized by "unity, diligence, rigor, and simplicity". Over the years, Henan University has played a pivotal role in nurturing a diverse array of talents, numbering over 700,000 individuals, who have made significant contributions to the revitalization of education, advancements in science and technology, preservation of cultural legacies, societal progress, and the broader aspect of human civilization.

HENU stands as a research-oriented university with 13 subject categories across 36 colleges. It offers a selection of educational pathways, with a total of 102 undergraduate majors, 48 master's degree authorized first-level disciplines, 30 master's degree authorization categories, 21 doctoral degree authorized first-level disciplines and 19 postdoctoral research mobile stations.

The university's dedication to research excellence is further underscored by its 10 disciplines that rank within the top 1% of the Essential Science Indicators (ESI) world rankings. It also features 82 undergraduate majors that are part of the prestigious "Double 10,000 Plan".

The university hosts two national key laboratories, one national field scientific observation and research station and two national key social science research platforms, a prominent national field scientific observation and research station, and two vital national key social science research platforms. In addition, it actively participates in collaborative efforts, boasting three joint engineering research centers (engineering laboratories) that operate at both national and local levels. Moreover, HENU houses five essential laboratories and centers sanctioned by both the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Agriculture.

Beyond its domestic achievements, HENU has cultivated strong international ties, establishing cooperative relationships with 193 universities across 38 countries and regions.
