Special issue on data-driven vehicle infrastructure cooperative systems
Published 31 January, 2021
In the field of conventional transportation, infrastructure engineers and traffic engineers have traditionally considered the requirements of their systems individually. This lack of interaction between the two has resulted in potential safety hazards, inefficient road capacity and excessive consumption of resources. In recent years, Vehicle Infrastructure Cooperation Systems (VICS), which integrate vehicles and infrastructure, have been proposed to enhance the safety, efficiency and sustainability of intelligent transportation systems. However, with VICS, issues can arise with sensor layout; data collection; communication technology; multi-source data fusing; analysis methods; and the construction of decision-making systems. This special issue highlights the latest research exploring these VICS-related challenges.
Topics covered:
- Sensor layout design and installation in both infrastructure and vehicles
- Multi-source sensor data collection, processing and data fusion
- Machine learning-based traffic safety analysis, trajectory and route prediction
- Autonomous driving assistance in the context of VICS
- Traffic control with VICS
- Prediction of traffic flow based on live data
- Pavement performance evaluation and predictions
- VICS architecture design, implementation and case studies
- Benchmarking road infrastructure safety management
Submission Deadline:
- All manuscripts must be submitted by 31 December 2021
Submission Instructions:
Authors interested in this special issue should review the Journal of Traffic and Transportation Engineering (JTTE) Guide for Authors. Submissions should be made online; please select the issue type SI: Data-Driven VICS. There is no word limit for submitted papers. Review papers and long papers with abundant content are especially welcome.
All submissions will be peer reviewed and accepted papers will be published open access in JTTE with no charge to the author. Early editions of accepted papers will be published online individually at ScienceDirect. Printed copies of the issue will be shipped to authors free of charge following publication.
