Anesthesia and Pain Management

Published 10 December, 2024

Anesthesia and pain management are crucial aspects in modern medical practice, with the goal of improving the outcome of surgery and treatment while ensuring patient safety and comfort. The recent decades have seen the rapid evolution of anesthesia and pain management, fueled by w extensive research and discoveries on neural circuits, pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics, as well as technological advances in anesthetic drugs and equipment. Initially centered on inducing painlessness and unconsciousness for surgical procedures, the field has advanced to include multimodal anesthesia and personalized pain management protocols, reflecting significant strides in our cunderstanding of anesthesia and pain.

The development of new anesthetics, innovations in anesthetic techniques, and reforms in pain management models have greatly improved patient outcomes and quality of life. This special issue is dedicated to presenting the latest research and practices in this field, especially those that highlight safer, more effective and more humane anesthesia and pain management strategies. The issue will focus on general anesthesia, local anesthesia, nerve block anesthesia and analgesic medications, exploring approaches to anesthesia and pain management that are more efficacious, have fewer side effects, and are more tailored to individual needs.

We welcome the submission of original research and review articles on the development of new anesthetics, the application of innovative anesthetic techniques, the study of pain mechanisms, and the exploration of pain management models. Through this platform, we look forward to sharing and exchanging new concepts, ideas, thereby collectively advancing the frontiers of anesthesia and pain management.
