We are very pleased to announce the appointment of Prof. Jay le Roux as an editorial board member for ISWCR. Please join us in welcoming Prof. le Roux to the team.
Prof. le Roux is an Associated Professor in Geography, at the University of the Free State, South Africa. His scientific activity and interests are gully erosion and sediment yield mapping/modelling in a changing environment using GIS applications. His research focus is to advance soil erosion and sediment yield mapping/modelling in African countries at a regional scale. Another primary research focus is gully erosion mapping and modeling of gully-derived sediment yield at regional scales in a GIS and by means of UAV photogrammetry.
Prof. le Roux has published (co)produced 23 peer-reviewed outputs in several journals and has been engaged in multiple international associations currently focusing on the development of an input database to run the SWAT model in Southern Africa - made available as an “open-source” baseline in cloud storage. This project is also part of the WRC Water Research Observatory that will serve as a cloud-based big data platform for water-related data and information in South Africa. The purpose of the platform is creation of models for big data analytics, and the building of application programming interfaces to enable data visualisation and data-driven decision-making at various levels.
