Introducing the new Editor-in-Chief of ISWCR
Published 01 June, 2022
We are pleased to announce that Prof. Baoyuan Liu has been appointed the new Editor-in-Chief of International Soil and Water Conservation Research (ISWCR).
Alongside his role as a Professor at the Beijing Normal University in China, Prof. Liu is also the Director of the State Key Laboratory of Soil Erosion and Dryland Farming on the Loess Plateau.
Prof. Liu’s research interests are related to soil erosion processes, including soil erosion modelling, monitoring and assessment of conservation practices. He had around four years of postdoctoral research experience at the USDA-ARS National Soil Erosion Research Lab, and was involved in the development and validation of the Water Erosion Prediction Project (WEPP).
Prof. Liu has published more than 80 English-language research articles in international journals, and around 143 articles in Chinese, which have been cited more than 7,100 times, according to Google Scholar. Prof. Liu is widely known for his scientific contributions, such as deriving the equations for the slope gradient and length factors in the Universal Soil Loss Equation (USLE) on steep slopes, and establishing the Chinese Soil Loss Equation (CSLE) and its computer model ground on GIS. Prof. Liu also designed the field soil erosion investigation technique in China, which has been applied in the National Census for Water Erosion.
Recently, Prof. Liu has focused on the integration process of wind and water erosion in the black soil region of Northeast China, as well as its control principles and conservation practices.
