Special Issue on GNSS Technology and Applications for Intelligent Railway
Published 23 April, 2024
Intelligent equipment, construction, operation and other directions in intelligent railway have given rise to opportunities for new management, operation control and railway safety critical system. These advancements have put forward higher requirements for the trustworthy acquisition and application of location data pertaining to people, trains, equipment and infrastructure facilities.
The Positioning, Navigation & Timing (PNT) service capability of the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS), represented by GPS, GALILEO, BeiDou, etc., provides an important driving force for the digitalization and intelligent development of next-generation railway systems. Harnessing artificial intelligence, big data, cloud computing, digital twin and communication/navigation integration, the intelligent railway system based on trustworthy and safe/resilient PNT services by GNSS is expected to optimize the operational safety, traveling efficiency, environmental benefits, service quality and other aspects of Location-based Service for Railway (LBS-R), thus supporting the intelligent railway system to play a more significant role in the development of the comprehensive transportation system.
A special issue of High-Speed Railway (CN 10-1922/U2, ISSN 2949-8678) with the theme of “GNSS Technology and Applications for Intelligent Railway” is now available. Experts and scholars in the related fields are welcome to contribute to this issue.
