Introduction:

In this era of global epidemiological transition, liver diseases are increasingly recognized as a major cause of morbidity and mortality. To combat the growing burden of these diseases, new strategies for effective disease prevention, accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment are urgently needed. Against this backdrop, this special issue highlights the innovative technologies and evidence-driven developments for the improvement of liver health.

Topics covered:

• Global burden of liver diseases, such as hepatitis, cirrhosis, and liver cancer
• Artificial intelligence and other innovative technologies applied to the prevention, diagnosis, and management of liver diseases
• Epidemiology and public health perspectives on liver diseases
• Lifestyle and environmental interventions for the prevention and management of liver diseases
• Pathophysiology and diagnosis of liver diseases such as hepatitis, cirrhosis, and liver cancer
• Advancements in liver transplantation and regenerative medicine for liver diseases
• Therapeutic approaches for the treatment of liver diseases, including pharmacological, surgical, and non-invasive methods
• Pre-clinical and clinical evaluation of drug therapies for liver diseases, including safety and efficacy assessments.

The journal welcomes original research articles, reviews and comments that advance our understanding of liver diseases and the strategies in addressing them. We encourage submissions from researchers, clinicians and practitioners in the field, as well as contributions from multidisciplinary teams.
