First meeting of the editorial board of Geohazard Mechanics

In September 2022, the first editorial board meeting of the International Journal of Geohazard Mechanics, co-sponsored by Liaoning University and Chinese Society for Rock Mechanics & Engineering, was successfully held online. Thirteen editorial board members attended the meeting chaired by Professor Pan Yishan of Liaoning University, editor-in-chief of the journal and Vice Chairman of ISRM China National Group.
Pan Yishan began by reporting the achievements of the journal to date, the positioning and development goals, the advantages and challenges. The group held an in-depth discussion and provided constructive suggestions on how to build the characteristics, increase the publicity, and improve the influence of the journal. Suggestions to help build a platform for rock mass catastrophe mechanical problems included:
- Focusing on hot issues, academic frontiers and dynamic compaction theory depth by regularly organising special issues.
- Ensuring engagement with young scientists by establishing a youth editorial board and inviting young editorial board to review manuscripts, promote the quality of the journal and help young scholars advance.
- Improving the editorial control on quality of the first review and establishing a complete review system.
- Guiding innovation in the field and innovating the mode of running the journal to develop a world-class title.
All present expressed support in constructing and developing the journal in the aspects of review, writing and publicity. As the sponsor of journal, Minister Yang Zhian and Dean Hei Jiaxin said Geohazard Mechanics was greatly significant to the academic development of Liaoning University and gave full support in the aspects of publicity, high-quality talent team formation and policy. In addition, Beijing Keasenlan Culture Communication Co., Ltd. will provide assistance in platform construction, publication tracking, database collection and other aspects to facilitate the development of the journal.
Geohazard Mechanics went online on 24 August 2022 and was immediately selected as a new journal of 2022 China Science and Technology Journal Excellence Action Plan High Starting Point. As one of the 50 journals in the Excellence Action Plan, the construction of the journal has been strongly supported by the editorial board. We look forward to continuing guidance from the board to build Geohazard Mechanics into a first-class international science and technology journal.
