Special Issue on Esophageal Disease

Introduction:
There are various types of esophageal diseases. Common ones include esophagitis, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and esophageal cancer. Some symptoms are mild, while others significantly affect eating habits and can even be life-threatening. Clinical manifestations mainly include chest pain behind the sternum, acid reflux, heartburn, and progressive difficulty in swallowing. In recent years, there has been rapid progress in the diagnostic methods and therapeutic measures for esophageal diseases. The special issue presents the main advances in the diagnosis and therapeutic strategy in the field of both benign and malignant esophageal diseases.
