Special Issue on High-Performance Building Envelopes

Introduction:
Building envelopes play a crucial role in shaping indoor thermal, lighting and acoustic environments, as well as in influencing overall building energy consumption. Enhancing the performance of building envelopes not only contributes to creating comfortable and healthy indoor conditions but also reduces energy demand.
High-performance building envelope can be achieved or developed through the integration of innovative materials, advanced technologies, optimized architectural designs and specialized construction.
This special issue highlights both the technical innovations and practical implications of building envelope in designing new buildings and retrofitting existing buildings.
Potential topics for this special issue include, but will not be limited to:
- Innovative building envelope materials/technologies;
- Design innovations and smart building envelopes
- Thermal/lighting/acoustic performance improvement in building renovation
