Jianming Xue is a senior scientist at New Zealand Forest Research Institute (Scion) and an adjunct professor in several universities. His areas of expertise include integrated management of soil fertility, productivity and quality, forest nutrition and water management; genetic and environmental control of resource use efficiency; the fate and transport of nutrient and contaminants in ecosystems; beneficial use and land application of biowastes. His current research focusses on developing sustainable biowaste reuse and site- or species-specific management solutions for improving soil health and forest productivity with minimal environmental and ecological footprints.
Areas of expertise: Forest nutrition management for enhanced growth and wood properties; forest ecophysiological responses to water, nutrient and other abiotic stresses; tree photosynthesis and growth process and regulation; beneficial use of biowastes on forestland; biochar and forest soil health and productivity
