Celebration of 20 Years Excellence of BME Program at Stony Brook
Published 10 March, 2020
This special issue celebrates 20 years of excellence for the Biomedical Engineering (BME) Program at Stony Brook University. The BME department was established in 2000 and emphasizes an interdisciplinary engineering approach to the complex problems facing medicine in the post-genomics age. The program provides the strong foundation necessary for undertaking advanced basic, applied, and translational research in this diverse but interconnected field. Biomedical engineering is at the forefront of medicine in the 21st century and the burgeoning success of this discipline has raised expectations for earlier diagnosis and more effective treatment of disease. This is an extremely exciting time for Biomedical Engineering. New areas of research and development are occurring daily, from nano-based engineering of tissues to the exploration of outer space safe for mankind. Any paper related to biomedical engineering is welcome.
