Published 14 November, 2023
Bioactive Materials Student Award, an award from the journal Bioactive Materials (IF 2022: 18.9). It recognizes student researchers who have shown outstanding achievements in bioactive materials research. In 2023, the winner is Dr. Dongdong Zhang from Orthopedic Medical Center of the University of Hong Kong-Shenzhen Hospital.
Biosketch of the winner:
Dongdong Zhang, Assistant researcher (postdoctoral) at the Orthopedic Medical Center of the University of Hong Kong-Shenzhen Hospital. The applicant has long been engaged in research on the clinical basis of bone infection, bone tumors, and bone repair, and the design, preparation, and surface functionalized modification of relevant orthopedic implant replacement materials. During the PhD period, the applicant took surface functionalized degradable magnesium-based implants as a research topic, and used layered double hydroxide (LDH) as the coating material to systematically study the preparation process and formation principle of various LDH coatings on the surface of magnesium-based implants, and based on this, designed various functionalized (superhydrophobic, self-healing, antibacterial, anti-tumor, bone-promoting) LDH-based coatings. In recent years, as the first author (including co-author) and corresponding author, the applicant has published 15 papers in SCI journals such as Bioactive Materials, Small, Chemical Engineering Journal, Advanced Healthcare Materials, Acta Biomaterialia, Journal of Materials Science and Technology, and Corrosion Science; and applied for 6 invention patents.
