Achievements: Professor HJ Meisel is an international authority in the field of neurosurgery and spinal surgery, focusing on the research and treatment of degenerative spinal diseases.He was Director of neurosurgery at Bergmannstrost Halle Hospital in Germany in 1998 and Director of the Center for Neuroscience since 2008.He is a pioneer in spinal implants and biological disc repair technologies, developed the first autologous chondrocyte transplantation system in 1995, and led the first randomized clinical trial of regenerative medicine (EuroDisc).He also co-founded Regenerate Europe and the Translational Centre for Regenerative Medicine at the University of Leipzig, and has held leadership positions in several international research projects and organizations, including the EU Nanomedicine Technology Platform (ETPN) and the AO Spine Knowledge Forum.Currently, he leads the AO Spinal Biomaterial Guidelines (AOGO) project and the EU RESPINE regenerative Therapy research.
