Introduction: Dr. Ping Xiang's research primarily focuses on the promotion of physical activity and health in children and adolescents through motivational pathways in physical activity settings, including school physical education and summer sports camps. She has applied both quantitative and qualitative methodologies in her research endeavors. Dr. Xiang has studied age- and sex-related differences in ability beliefs, achievement goals, and expectancy-value motivation in students from elementary school to college in physical activity and physical education classes. She has also studied student motivation in relation to physical activity-related cognitive, behavioral, and health outcomes, including perceived competence, intention for future physical activity participation, persistence/effort, running performance, body composition, and cardiovascular fitness.
