Purpose of the job:
As publisher you are responsible for the maintenance and development of a designated portfolio of international Open Access journals. In addition to safeguarding the portfolio’s reputation and quality, the Publisher will contribute to the team’s ambitious strategy of accelerated content growth as well as the development and positioning of Open Access opportunities.
The ideal candidate has excellent networking skills, strong communication skills, is fluent in Chinese and English and has strong business acumen. The candidate should have Physical Sciences/Engineering and Technology background.
The role, which is based in Beijing, focuses on the ongoing operational and editorial development of 10+ journals, published in close collaboration and partnership with a variety of leading academic societies. As KeAi grows a level of flexibility will be required to adjust to business priorities but key areas of responsibility include:
- Managing a portfolio of 10+ Open Access journals of medical science
- Establish, manage and maintain excellent contacts with key external stakeholders, including editors, authors, society representatives and university leadership
- Identify and map market needs and business opportunities
Key Result Areas
Main Activities and Responsibilities
- Develop the strategy for the portfolio, aligning it with KeAi’s strategies and priorities as well as customers’ requirements and expectations
- Work with authors, editors and the research community at large to ensure sufficient copy flow of relevant, high quality manuscripts
- Continuous quality control and monitoring of all aspects of day-to-day editorial, production and publishing operations and actively address improvements where required
- Meet portfolio related objectives with regards to content growth, citations, and publishing speed, among others
- Provide marketing input to the marketing plans for the portfolio and KeAi’s strategies
- Establish, manage and maintain excellent contacts with key external stakeholders, including editors, authors, society representatives and university leadership
- Develop the strategy for the portfolio, aligning it with KeAi’s strategies and priorities as well as customers’ requirements and expectations

General Qualifications:
- Master’s degree/PhD in medical science
- research or professional publishing experience in medical science will be an advantage
- Excellent Chinese and English language skills (written and oral)
