Xian Xu is a professor at the School of Economics, Fudan University. He is the head of the Department of Risk Management and Insurance at Fudan University and the director of Fudan University's China Insurance and Social Security Research Center. In addition, he holds several prominent positions, including being a member of the National Insurance Professional Master's Education Guidance Committee, a council member of the China Finance Society, a council member of the China Insurance Society, vice president of the Commercial Insurance Branch of the China Association for Social Security, and vice president of the Shanghai Insurance Society. His research focuses are in insurance economics, the protection of financial consumers, risk management, FinTech and InsurTech. Over the past years, he has published over 40 papers in field-top journals, including Journal of Risk and Insurance, Journal of Economic Dynamics and Control, Journal of Banking and Finance, China Economic Review. He is the chief expert of Major Grant of the National Social Science Foundation of China. He has also led various research projects funded by the British Academy, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and the Ministry of Education of China, among others.
