Jianming Zhu received the Ph.D. degree in operations research from the Academy of Mathematics and Systems Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Now he is a professor and doctoral supervisor at the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS), Assistant Dean of the School of Emergency Management Science and Engineering. He is also an evaluation expert for key and general projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China. He has served as a visiting scholar at Stanford University, the University of Texas at Dallas, and Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. His research focuses on operations research, emergency management, big data analysis, social computing, and network optimization. He initiated and established the Emergency Management Science Laboratory and has undertaken a series of major research projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China. Additionally, he has conducted applied research projects including emergency equipment quota management for the Yunnan Electric Power Grid Corporation of China Southern Power Grid, emergency capability assessment for the Tianjin power grid, risk assessment for distribution networks, research on earthquake disaster emergency preparedness models, safety investigation and analysis of chemical accidents, and the development and revision of emergency response plans in multiple locations. He has published over 90 academic papers, serves as the Associate Editor of IEEE TCSS and the area editor for emergency management at Risk Sciences, and has received the Zhu Liyuehua Outstanding Teacher Award from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the First Prize for Outstanding Scientific and Technological Papers in the Field of Emergency Management in Beijing.
