Pengchao Chen is a Ph.D., professoriate senior engineer, and doctoral supervisor awarded the special government allowance of the State Council. He is an expert in the National Science and Technology Expert Database and National Expert Database for Emergency Management, honored with such titles as the Sun Yueqi Youth Science and Technology Award. Presently, he is serving as the deputy team leader of the preparatory committee of PipeChina Institute of Science and Technology. He has been engaging in the research on pipeline integrity, safety assurance of pipelines buried in high-cold frozen soil areas, smart pipeline networks, etc., presided over 9 major scientific research projects at the provincial and ministerial level or above, and is taking the lead in one of the National Key Research and Development Projects in the 14th Five-Year Plan, i.e., Safe and Efficient Operation Status Monitoring and Sensing System of Trans-Regional Complex Oil and Gas Pipeline Network and its Application. He presided over the development of a series of equipment for ultra-high-definition integrated detection of multi-physics field, which was included by invitation in the 13th Five-Year Technological Innovation Achievement Exhibition. The key technologies of the permafrost pipeline developed by his team are used to ensure the successful construction and safe operation of the China-Russia Pipeline. He has won 12 awards at the provincial and ministerial level or above, formulated 10 international and national standards, owns 24 invention patents, and has written 4 monographs.
