Journal of Holistic Integrative Pharmacy is an open-access journal, officially sponsored by Guangdong Pharmaceutical University and China Institute for Development Strategy of Holistic Integrative Medicine. With the aim of promoting academic exchanges and disciplinary development of pharmaceutical sciences, this journal provides an important platform for the communication of holistic integrative pharmacy and its related disciplines.

Spanning all aspects in the integration of various relevant disciplines of pharmaceutical sciences, such as the combination of pharmacy with traditional medicine, pharmacy with modern medicine, pharmacy with modern new technology, basic pharmaceutical research with application and development, pharmacy with humanities, etc. This journal publishes a range of article types, including highlights, reviews, and original research.

Guangdong Pharmaceutical University (GDPU) is one of three pharmaceutical universities in China. It was the first institution of higher education specializing in pharmaceutical studies to be opened in South China. Offering 49 undergraduate majors, GDPU has developed to be one of the most comprehensive range of pharmacy concentrations of higher education institutions in China. GDPU has 21 national/provincial level first-class undergraduate major construction sites, 42 national/provincial level first-class undergraduate courses, 20 provincial level graduate demonstration courses, 21 provincial level graduate joint training bases, 1 national level graduate demonstration center and 1 national level graduate joint training base. GDPU boasts a teaching faculty of 1849, with 1522 dedicated teachers, and 1173 faculty are qualified to supervise doctoral and masters' dissertations. With these are allied 163 Provincially Exceptional Teachers, including those holding the distinctions of Doubly Engaged Academicians, National Model Teachers, State Council Special Allowance Experts, National Outstanding Youth, et al., and 16 provincial-level high priority research groups.

GDPU has seven provincial and ministerial key disciplines, the doctorate discipline of Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine, five master's disciplines, and seven master's professional disciplines. Pharmaceutical Discipline ranks the 21st in the fourth-round national discipline evaluation; Clinical medicine, chemistry, pharmacology and toxicology, and agricultural science have successively joined the list of the top 1% of ESI ranking worldwide. The discipline of Integration of Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine ranked the fourth in China's soft science (China's Best Discipline Ranking) in 2021. There are 54 research platforms at both the national and provincial levels, forming a comprehensive ecosystem for innovative research on the three key pharmaceutical sciences, namely, medicinal chemistry, biopharmaceuticals, and traditional Chinese medicine. GDPU has established cooperative relationships and exchanges with over 50 institutions of higher education and research facilities in over 20 countries across five continents and leaded to set up the Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao Pharmaceutical Manufacturers' Alliance for Innovation and the Holistic Integrative Pharmacy Alliance of China.
