M. Socorro González-Elizondo (Ph. D.) is a professor and researcher at CIIDIR, Instituto Politecnico Nacional in Durango, Mexico. She works on floristics and forest ecology, as well as on the taxonomy of Mexican conifers, madrones and oaks. Founder and curator of the CIIDIR Herbarium (gt;100,000 specimens). Author of more than 100 articles in scientific journals, eight books and 35 book chapters. A member of the Mexican Academy of Sciences, National Academy of Forest Sciences, International Association for Plant Taxonomy, and the National System of Researchers in Mexico.
