Special Issue on Artificial Intelligence-Driven Information Security for Communication Networks
Published 16 March, 2021
Artificial intelligence (AI) technology poses new challenges for the control and maintenance of information-based communication networks. The security of a network is closely related to the information content it transmits, and the security of that content mainly involves the confidentiality, authenticity and integrity of information. As images are one of the most commonly-transmitted pieces of information, image security and quality control are of great significance. In addition to the ongoing threat of information explosion, communication networks are sensitive to cyber attacks. Emerging image/video forgery technologies also pose unprecedented challenges to information security.
The rapid development of AI technology has improved the scalability, speed and accuracy of communication networks. Various machine learning-based estimation and detection methods have been designed for networks, proving that AI can change the way we respond, control, manage and maintain them. Artificial intelligence and its derivatives are a powerful set of tools with potential for use in all aspects of network security, network threat hunting, and network threat intelligence.
This special issue seeks novel papers describing the use of AI-based tools, technologies and procedures to ensure that technology can perceive, react and communicate changes in network security, and ensure that the creation, transmission and storage of information, especially image information, is credible. It will feature the latest research advances, ideas and practical applications of AI technology in solving the scalability of communication networks. We will review past trends and the current state of AI-oriented communication network security in a clear context, so that future technologies can be imagined and created. Submissions may represent any application area of communication networks.
