Special issue on emerging and disruptive technologies for aquaculture

Aquaculture has been the fastest growing sector in agriculture over the past 20 years. Applications of science and the introduction of new technologies in aquaculture have promoted its rapid development; in fact, they have benefited almost every aspect of aquaculture. Emerging and disruptive technologies will increasingly offer novel ways to enhance the production and profitability of global seafood. These technologies include genomic selection, genome editing, information/digital technology, recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS) and solar energy, offshore farming, oral vaccines novel marketing strategies with blockchain, and the integration of different parts of aquaculture with the Internet of Things (IoT).

For this special issue, we welcome contributions (opinions, reviews and experimental studies) about emerging and disruptive technologies in all aspects of aquaculture. We especially welcome papers describing multi-disciplinary novel technologies with the potential to improve aquaculture.

Please read the Guide for Authors before submitting. All articles should be submitted online; please select the special issue “Emerging and disruptive technologies for aquaculture”.

Manuscripts will be reviewed and published on a first-come, first-served basis. Once all accepted manuscripts are published, they will be grouped together in this special issue.
