First Editorial Meeting held in July

Advances in Climate Change Research held its first Editorial Meeting of 2016

On July 28^th, 2016, Advances in Climate Change Research (ACCR) held its first editorial meeting of 2016. Prof. Dahe QIN, a prominent Academician from Chinese Academy of Sciences, chaired the meeting and 32 Editorial Board members and experts were in attendance. The meeting not only examined the successes and challenges of the first half of 2016 and explored strategies to drive the journal forward for the rest of the year.

Key successes this year included:

• The successful publication of the first two issues as a double issue including a focus on the special topic of “20% non-fossil energy”
• A sharp increase (29%) in uninvited submissions
• An impressive increase in downloads to the journal and a matching of 2015 citation levels in just the first half of 2016
• Expansion of the Editorial Board to include experts from outstanding institutions including Tsinghua University, Energy Research Institute, National Development and Reform Commission, Tianjin University of Technology & Science, and CSIRO, Australia

Ideas for the rest of the year include:

• Further expanding the Editorial leadership to reflect the balance of not only subject matter but also key international institutions contributing to the fields
• A focus on cutting edge research areas, including those highlighted by the IPCC.  
• Future Special issues on topics including
  1. 2016, COP21（Guest Editor: Prof. Rajendra Pachauri）
  2. 2016, Atmospheric black carbon and its effects on cryosphere (Guest Editor: Prof. Shi-Chang KANG)
  3. 2016, Climate Change in Arid Central Asia（Guest Editor: Prof. Fa-Hu CHEN）

All present agreed that Advances in Climate Change Research has had an excellent start to 2016 and look forward to more success throughout the year and beyond.
