Introduction: Dr. Ditor is a Professor in the Department of Kinesiology at Brock University. His research focusses on the secondary health complications that commonly accompany neurological diseases such as spinal cord injury and multiple sclerosis. He has particular interests in the chronic inflammation, cardiometabolic diseases and sexual dysfunctions that often occur in these populations. Dr. Ditor also researches the effects of exercise and diet on preventing and reversing these health complications, with particular interest in the role of diet as a means to lower chronic inflammation and the positive effects this can have on health and function. He has conducted randomized controlled trials showing the ability for an anti-inflammatory diet to reduce inflammation as well as neuropathic pain and depression in these populations.
In addition to his teaching and research responsibilities Dr. Ditor is also the founder and Director of a wheelchair accessible exercise facility called Power Cord, which is located in the B-Fit Centre (Brock Functional Inclusive Training Centre) at Brock University. This facility offers highly specialized exercise programming for people with neurological disability, with one-on-one supervision coming from Brock University students.
